Hola todos, Luis and I have a passion for learning about the other’s culture. It was this passion that resulted in the happiest of accidents and our meeting.  And though Luis could speak some English when we met 6 years ago, I knew no Spanish.   Our attraction to the other’s culture and all the things we had in common despite our cultural differences led to a wonderful friendship which grew over time into a great love.  We have learned enormous amounts about our own culture and language while trying to understand and surrender to the other’s.  It is fascinating to look at the same world through a whole other language system rooted in it’s particular history, geography, spiritual traditions, food and music.  There are some days I swear we could not be more different and others where we could not be more the same.   How is that?  

What we hope to do in this Blog, is to give voice to any of you that share an interest in learning Spanish and understanding more about the countries and cultures from which it originates.   We invite you as well, to subscribe to our Online magazine which is called La Casa Rojas  where you will find great articles written in Spanish by our writers who are located all over Hispano America and Spain.  They also voice record their articles so that you can hear their particular accent and cadence.  It’s a great way to expand your knowledge and comfort with the Spanish Langauage, not to mention a great way to learn about the many cultures and subcultres of Spanish speaking locals.

In La Casa Rojas – the magazine, you will also find a Podcast and something else that is REALLY fun.  For 2010 Luis and I have decided to volunteer our time to provide FREE Spanish Classes to anyone who wants to tune into our Spanish Video Journal .  Yes FREE really and there is not catch.  Every Monday through Friday from January 1st until December 31st you will get a 10 minute Spanish lesson.  We will build up your knoweldge from the very beginning and take you all the way to want you need to know if your goal is to become fluent.  From zero to fluent in one year.  YES, FREE. 

Why are we doing this?  Because we know that Spanish lessons are expensive.  Not everyone who wants them or needs them right now can afford them.  So for one year, we will contribute our talents and resources to lend a hand to those that are feeling the pinch in this economy.  Pure and simple.  Please join us and tell your friends and family.  Then come January 2011, take a vacation together to some exotic Spanish speaking local and a the time of your life interacting with a whole new world.  You’ll never, ever regret that you invested in yourself in this way.
